I have applied for my H1B this year and I am almost ready to get it stamped. I wanted to apply H4 for my Spouse as well along with me, but the problem is that we had to do a court marriage in Mar 2009, as our parents were not accepting our relation, later they agreed and we had our social marriage in July 2010. So, my doubt is that we have the marriage certificate of Mar 2009 but the wedding invitation card and the photo albums are of July 2010, will this be a problem for H4 VISA application and stamping.

This is a tricky situation. I am currently in US on J1 visa (5th year). My J1 visa stamping was done in Canada since I am a permanent resident of Canada 2 years home rule didnt apply for me. I got married recently in India and now I am in the process of bringing my wife on J2 visa. She has a interview scheduled for next week in India. Will there be a problem during interview since my J1 visa was not issued in India?if they do issue J2 visa, does the same no 2 years restriction ( as in my J1) applies to her too. what sorta questions do we expect during interview?
below are the listed documents needed for the interview. do we need anything else other than these
An approved form DS-2019 from the principal applicant’s school or program in the U.S. with the dependent’s name included;
A copy of the Form DS-2019 of the Principal Applicant.
Photocopy of the principal applicant’s valid visa (if applying separately).
Original Marriage certificate (for spouse) along with your entire wedding photo album.
Proof of additional financial resources to support the dependents.

My parents are giving us 00 for our wedding. I am trying to create a budget based on the venue we would LIKE to have if we can afford it. The food is the most expensive part of the venue – and the figure I have here is cutting it close. Do you see any areas that I can cut back on or any areas that I haven’t budgeted enough for? We are in the midwest BTW, Illinois to be exact. I am worried about my budgets for photography and DJs as I haven’t researched them yet. Do you think I will have enough?

BTW we currently have 135 on our guest list and the wedding is in 2011 so we are planning to be up to 150 by then.
I acutally bought my dress already and I only spent 0. They were discontinuing the style so I could order it for 1/3 of the price. Stams I just did 150guests*2stamps per guest (one for the reply card) *.44cents and that gave me 2.
The place that we want to get married at runs high for food. About -pp +20% gratuity and 8% tax for a buffet. We are choosing a non-conventional menu to keep the costs around pp all unclusive.
Seamstress: You weren’t very helpful. Basically all you told me was that I don’t have enough money for anything LOL any ideas on how to cut back?
Thanks Owen. I wanted to keep it toward 100 people but my mom keeps adding ppl to the guest list and NOT increasing my budget. My future mother in-law has offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner seperately. And my parents are refusing to pay for the honeymoon so I doubt we will have one.
Hayley and Lainey would be my friend and her daughter who are going to be in the wedding – but will not be able to afford their own dresses I am sure. I would rather pay for them and have them in the wedding. My parents will not include the rings in their budget. I did forget about the ML though. Anyone know how much a marriage license costs?

I’ve never done any stamping before but am making my own wedding invitations and would like to do a stamped image over the printing on the invitations, hotel information, RSVPs, etc. so that the printing shows through the color, almost like a colored watermark. I’ve seen other pictures of homemade invites that they said were made this way but when I went shopping there are so many different inks!! What would be the best type of ink that would show good color but still be light enough that typed print would show through. I also want something that will be pretty easy to use since this is the first time I’ve done any stamping.

I’m the MoH of a long time friend and as such am throwing the shower. I was planning on buying invites until the bride gave me the list of people to be invited. It’s HUGE. I was anticipating 20 people but the list must have at least 60-70 to be invited (thats not to say that many people will come)
I need ideas for less expensive ideas for invites, keeping in mind I must also pay for postage. I was going to send RSVP cards and envelopes with a stamp but to save money I’m going to have people respond by email or phone to save the double postage.
As far as reducing the list, I know she has a lot of aunts and cousins. Plus she’s already irritated me, I don’t want to anger it anymore than I have already by daring to not be able to get off work for 3 days for her bachelorette
Already irritate WITH me
The hall is free since I asked to use my churche hall. This comes with chairs and tables and dishes. I’m doing most of the baking myself and am just serving finger foods and snacks.

I have a 5.5 by 5.5 inch envelope for my wedding invitation. It is made out of a heavy paper (cardstock I think) and has nothing on it to make it bulky (like ribbon). I don’t know if it is under an ounce or not but I am sure it is. The lady at my post office sold me .44 cent stamps and I think I need .64 cent stamps. What do you think because I don’t think she knows what she is talking about.

I am currently on a H-1 work visa which got approved July of 2008 which is officially active from October of 2008. But when I got the H-1 work permit approval notice from the USCIS my name was printed wrong on the notice. I need to travel to my country for my sister’s wedding in November and get H-1 stamped on my passport before I come back here. I have already requested a name change from USICS almost 3 months back but I have not yet received the corrected name H-1 notice yet. And I need it to travel.I called the USCIS customer service and they said it shows as request for correcting the typo shows but they are not sure how long will it take for them to send the correct notice. My question is that I entered USA as a F-1 student to do my masters here and on my F-1 paper when I entered my I-94 receipt number is the same as the I-94 receipt number on my H-1 notice right now. So it it okay for me to travel with the incorrect spelling document, as if anyone questions about the spelling they can check their computers and see that I am the same person with the I-94 number showing on their computers but USCIS notice has a typo? And more importantly, will I be able to show the typo H-1 notice in my country to get it stamped for visa and enter back to USA?
Thank you beforehand for the answers!

Almost there! We’re finalizing our invitation wording before sending to print. After doing some googling, I realized there may be no need to include "Please R.S.V.P." on my invitation since we are enclosing a separate RSVP card w/ stamped envelope. What do you folks think?
This is the order of what we have on my final invitation draft:
1. Ceremony details
2. Chinese Banquet details
3. In smaller font, "If you’re unable to attend we ask your presence in thought and prayer"
*** <This is where I had the "Please RSVP" line>
4. Our wedding website
